First Available Appropriate Specialist Triage (FAAST)
Referrers can either:
- Directly refer to a specific physician or surgeon, or
- Refer to the FAAST model, where referrals go through central intake, are triaged by an MSK clinician, and assigned to the first available appropriate specialist
FAAST supports timely access to care and ensures patients are matched based on diagnosis, severity, and prior treatments. If wait times for a specific physician are expected to exceed 5 months, referrers will be notified and given the option for earlier assessment through FAAST.
