Referral Pathways

We accept referrals for:

  • Orthopaedic surgery
  • Physiatry (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation)
  • Sports medicine
  • Rheumatology
  • Non-operative musculoskeletal medicine
  • Internal medicine (peri-operative and anti-coagulation)
  • Electrodiagnostic medicine (EMG/NCS, neuromuscular medicine)
  • Paediatric MSK assessment
  • Complex, multi-system MSK cases

X-Ray Requirements

  • All musculoskeletal referrals must include a current x-ray report dated within six months. Details on preferred imaging can be found in our x-ray views guide.

First Available Appropriate Specialist Triage (FAAST)

Referrers can either:

  • Directly refer to a specific physician or surgeon, or
  • Refer to the FAAST model, where referrals go through central intake, are triaged by an MSK clinician, and assigned to the first available appropriate specialist

FAAST supports timely access to care and ensures patients are matched based on diagnosis, severity, and prior treatments. If wait times for a specific physician are expected to exceed 5 months, referrers will be notified and given the option for earlier assessment through FAAST.

Diagnostic & Allied Services

  • Point-of-care ultrasound available onsite
  • Electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCS): specialist evaluation of nerve and muscle function
  • Physiotherapy: referrals encouraged, but not required; physiotherapists collaborate with physicians to support patient care
  • Bracing & Orthotics: Splints, braces, orthotics, footwear, and mobility aids. Referrals are encouraged to ensure appropriate selection and integration with treatment plans, but not required.
