
Dr. R. Stephen Burnett is an orthopaedic surgeon with clinical interests in adult hip and knee replacement, including primary, revision, complex, and partial procedures. His expertise also includes hip resurfacing, sports injuries and arthroscopy, hip impingement in young adults and adolescents, and orthopaedic trauma surgery of the upper and lower extremities. His research interests focus on hip and knee replacement, venous thromboembolism prophylaxis, infection, surgical exposures, and outcomes of computer-assisted and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Burnett has been recognized with multiple research awards, including the Knee Society John Insall Award and the Insall-Scott-Kelly International Congress for Joint Replacement Research Award. In addition to his clinical and research roles, he is actively involved in medical education as an educator for the UBC/UVic Island Medical School and Family Medicine Residency Program, an ATLS instructor, and Orthopaedic Surgery Resident Coordinator.
