Kryn Zedel

Hip, Skip, and a jump away from mobility

Push, pull, push, pull.

Flashback 40 some odd years – that’s the sound of Victoria, B.C. native Kryn Zedel’s coxon yelling back at him as he sliced the glassy waters of Elk Lake with his long wooden oar (no, fibreglass oars didn’t exist back then…). It wasn’t until years later that the distinguished University of Victoria Vikes Alumni rower had to pay for the impact of high performance sport.

The “I’ll stretch later” or “no pain no gain” mentality was rife during the mid to late 70s and Kryn is one of many high performance athletes who are and will continue to be impacted through high performance sport. “It was a bit of a different era, but I think it still happens today where teammates don’t necessarily do all that they can do to prevent injury.” revealed Kryn.

Today, Kryn is moving through the healing process of having his hip replaced. Through a referral, Kryn was introduced to RebalanceMD and hasn’t looked back since. Throughout his months working with RebalanceMD physicians and staff he’s noted a few things worth sharing.

“It’s been inspiring getting to visit RebalanceMD. It’s as much the personal attention and professionalism displayed by staff as it is seeing the diversity of patients within RebalanceMD. You can have a teenager with a bad knee getting help to a 95 year-old – that’s special. It’s the community of patients all striving to get better with the personal support of RebalanceMD that’s unique.”

With bike rides and hikes on the backburner for now – Kryn’s only looking forward with rehab around the corner and increased mobility on its way.
